DecideDiet is a new startup focused on helping individuals with chronic diseases, such as chronic kidney disease, end stage renal disease, heart failure, and hypertension, track their compliance with recommended sodium and potassium diets. With millions of people in the US living with chronic diseases, managing their diet and paying close attention to nutrition labels can be challenging. While the traditional method of providing education pamphlets to address diet is still widely practiced, its effectiveness has yet to be established. As DecideDiet continues to grow and expand, stay tuned for updates! We welcome any new ideas or suggestions to improve our application.

Introducing DecideDiet - an educational tool designed to help users with chronic diseases make informed diet choices for optimal disease control. With behavioral modification and smart built-in algorithms, DecideDiet makes following your diet easier and more enjoyable! No more manual entry, counting amounts, or complex graph analysis. Forget about reading lengthy nutrition labels or trying to memorize them.

We have developed an extensive database of food items with corresponding barcodes and labeled each item based on its sodium and potassium content (with plans for including phosphorus in the near future). Different colors and symbols are used to ensure accessibility for color-blind individuals. Your personal food basket keeps track of all the items you have consumed over time. The goal is to have more than 75% of the items labeled green (indicating they are appropriate), minimal yellow (foods to avoid), and absolutely no red (not recommended). The dietary compliance is based on the recommended daily consumption of two grams of sodium and two grams of potassium, with the recommendations tailored to one serving of each item. The more items you scan, the more accurate your basket becomes.
